Florence railway hub shutdown until July 30 disrupts Italy's train network
Rail traffic at Florence’s railway hub was suspended from 23:00 GMT on 26 July until 11:00 GMT on 30 July 2026 to replace the Ponte al Pino road overpass. The project involves installing a 550‑tonne bridge with a 2,000‑ton crane, one of the largest lifts of its type in Europe.
During the four‑day stop about 50 % of scheduled trains will run.
