Florence revamps Via Mannelli to improve traffic flow

From early August, Florence will reconfigure Via Mannelli as a one‑way street running from Via degli Artisti to Via Lapini. The new route will pass beneath the Affrico overpass, continue onto Via Credi, reach Piazza Alberti and then proceed along Via De Sanctis to the lungarni, creating a more direct link between Piazza della Libertà and the city’s south‑east area.

The changes will be implemented in phases, beginning on 3 August and concluding by the end of the month, with the final connection between Via Luca Giordano and Via Mannelli expected by 29 August after the removal of a crane used for the new Ponte al Pino works. Mobility assessor Andrea Giorgio explained that the plan aims to smooth traffic, provide efficient alternative routes for emergencies, and improve overall mobility without altering Via Della Robbia.
