Florence to host National Festival of Civil Economy in October
The eighth edition of the National Festival of Civil Economy is scheduled to take place in Florence from October 1 to 4. Titled ‘EUconomia. L’economia che fa bene, il rumore della foresta che cresce’, the event aims to highlight collaborative, innovative, and solidarity-based economic experiences that contribute to the common good.
Key themes include the climate crisis, inequality, educational poverty, demographic shifts, digital transformation, and the quality of democracy. The festival will focus on new concepts of well-being, generative businesses that prioritize people and territories, and new indicators to measure prosperity. A specific panel will also address female participation in the economy, marking 80 years since women gained the right to vote in Italy.
Marco Marcocci, Vice President of Confcooperative, noted that the national plan for the social economy has granted the sector greater dignity and a defined space. He emphasized that the cooperative model serves as a concrete example of how economic activity can be combined with trust and relational value to benefit local communities and territories.
