Florence to host study day on Arno River bridges

A study day titled ‘Attraverso l’Arno’ is scheduled for September 29 at the Palazzina Reale in Florence. Promoted by the Orders of Architects and Engineers of the province of Florence, the event will conduct a historical and technical analysis of four significant 20th-century bridges: San Niccolò, Vespucci, Giovanni da Verrazzano, and the Ponte all’Indiano.

The initiative aims to foster dialogue between architects, engineers, and academic institutions to address the safety, conservation, and functionality of these infrastructures. Participants will examine the relationship between the city and the Arno River from the post-war period to the present, focusing on urban transformations and developing concrete tools for maintenance and future design.
