Florence urged to protect Le Quinte affordable housing complex

Sunia Firenze and the Unione Inquilini held a union assembly with more than 500 residents of the Le Quinte housing complex in Florence. The complex, built under the decree for 20,000 affordable rentals, faces the loss of 137 subsidised units after the bankruptcy of the former owner and a recent auction.

The organisations appealed to the Comune di Firenze, demanding that the city guarantee the permanent lease arrangement despite an ongoing challenge before the TAR Toscana. They warned that without municipal intervention the city could lose a significant stock of affordable housing and called for a swift, decisive response from the administration, signalling a planned mobilisation of residents if necessary.
