Florencia Califano receives San Salvador Award for cultural contributions

The Mayor of San Salvador de Jujuy, Raúl “Chuli” Jorge, presented the San Salvador Award in the Cultural Labor category to artist Florencia Califano. The award recognizes her career and contributions to the artistic and cultural development of the city.

Califano holds a unique connection to the award itself, as she is the designer of the trophy presented by the Municipality for the past 29 years. Mayor Jorge highlighted her international career, noting her professional work in locations such as Berlin and China, while maintaining strong ties to Jujuy through her ceramic and production work.

As the granddaughter of Nicasio Fernández Mar, a prominent Jujuy sculptor, Califano continues a significant artistic lineage. Due to her international commitments, the award was presented via teleconference while she was in New Zealand.
