Florencio Sánchez theater hosts free performance of Tosca
As part of the 150th-anniversary commemorations of the Florencio Sánchez theater, the group Ópera Errante will present Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca on September 5 at 9:00 PM.
The production will be performed in its original language with Spanish subtitles to assist the audience. Admission is free, though attendees must collect invitations in advance from Casa de Cultura and Lacrosse.
The Florencio Sánchez, which opened in 1876 and was declared a National Historic Monument in 1975, will officially celebrate its sesquicentennial on October 6. Led by Uruguayan tenor Andrés Presno, Ópera Errante aims to bring opera to diverse cities and spaces outside traditional venues. The production features soprano Maite García Soto in the title role, with musical direction by Ignacio Pilone and stage direction by Santiago Bentancor.
