Florentina Holzinger to open Komische Oper Berlin season at Tempelhof

Artist Florentina Holzinger is set to open the 2027/28 season for the Komische Oper Berlin with a new production at the Tempelhof Airport hangar. The untitled work will explore the ideological drivers of war through a mix of historical and new compositions. The premiere is scheduled for September 18, 2027, with performances continuing until October 2.

In Berlin, the Volksbühne has also launched its new season under director Matthias Lilienthal. The opening featured Holzinger’s performance ‘House Wash,’ involving ritualistic cleaning and music. Additionally, the collective Rimini Protokoll presented ‘House of Hopes,’ an immersive production consisting of ten stations throughout the theater that explores personal stories connected to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
