Florette completes successful harvest season in Soria
Florette has concluded a positive harvest campaign in Soria, Spain, despite facing significant challenges from high temperatures. The company successfully managed its production by diversifying crop varieties and cultivation zones, including Iceberg, Romaine, and Batavia lettuces, escaroles, broccoli, cauliflower, and spinach.
This season marked the second year the company operated with two irrigated production fields in the province, located in Olmillos and Hinojosa del Campo. To maintain activity during peak summer months, the company required more than 130 workers per day to manage approximately 200 hectares of land.
Beyond climate issues, the company noted that labor shortages remain a critical challenge in the depopulated region of Soria. To address this, seasonal companies often must relocate workers from other territories. Florette currently cultivates nearly 2,000 hectares directly with over 500 local farmers across various Spanish regions.
