Floriade hosts duck cake competition as Katherine Sabbath joins charity cook-off

Floriade in Canberra hosted a cake-making competition inspired by the iconic ‘duck cake’ from the Australian Women’s Weekly Birthday Cake Book. The event included separate categories for adults and children, with entries judged by cake decorator Beth Madden and chef Malcolm Hanslow. The competition coincided with a floral display at Floriade that recreated the famous cake design.

In separate news, baker Katherine Sabbath announced her participation in OzHarvest’s CEO CookOff this November. The charity event aims to deliver five million meals in 30 days by bringing together business leaders and chefs. Sabbath indicated her contribution would focus on seasonal Australian produce, such as a mango, macadamia, and strawberry tiramisu parfait.
