Florian Lipowitz Takes Lead After Stage Win at Tour of Slovenia

German cyclist Florian Lipowitz of the Red Bull‑Bora‑Hansgrohe squad won the fourth, "King" stage of the 2026 Tour of Slovenia. The 184.7‑km route ran from Kranj to Kranjska Gora and featured the demanding 1,611‑metre Vrsic Pass. Lipowitz crossed the finish line just ahead of his teammate Giulio Pellizzari, securing the overall leader’s jersey with a four‑second advantage. He said, "I am very happy to have won again after almost two years," after a decisive attack on the final climb. Jakob Omrzel (Bahrain‑Victorious) completed the podium in third place.

The victory marks Lipowitz’s first individual win in nearly two years and his fourth professional triumph, serving as a form test ahead of the Tour de France, which starts in early July. The race proceeded without many World‑Tour stars, as Tadej Pogačar focused on the Tour de Suisse. The final stage will run from Litija to Novo Mesto, where Lipowitz will aim to defend his lead.
