Florian Lipowitz to return to cycling in Italy after Tour de France injury

German cyclist Florian Lipowitz is set to return to competitive racing next week following a seven-week hiatus caused by a broken collarbone sustained during the Tour de France. The 25-year-old will make his comeback at the Giro della Toscana on September 9.

Lipowitz may participate in up to three additional one-day races in Italy within four days of his return. These events will serve as fitness tests to determine his readiness for the upcoming Road World Championships in Montreal. Lipowitz noted that his primary focus is assessing his body’s reaction to racing loads rather than achieving specific results.

The potential participation in the World Championships is bolstered by the likely absence of defending champion Tadej Pogacar, who is also recovering from a collarbone injury sustained during the Vuelta a España.
