Goiânia storm leaves destruction as Brazil forecasts mild weather in Florianópolis and Salvador
A severe thunderstorm struck Goiânia on Sunday, June 14, marking the strongest June storm in 37 years. Rainfall peaked at 64 mm in Jardim Guanabara and 50.4 mm in the Setor Sul, with at least 22 neighborhoods recording heavy precipitation. The event caused flooding, the collapse of 23 trees or branches, and disrupted traffic. Municipal services deployed response teams to clear debris and attend to a house affected by mud in the Vera Cruz sector.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian weather service issued forecasts for other regions. Florianópolis is expected to see partly cloudy skies with mild temperatures ranging from 10 °C to 22 °C and light rain on Monday and Friday. In Salvador, temperatures will stay around 24 °C to 27 °C, with frequent showers throughout the week and a brief period of clearer skies on Wednesday.
