Florianópolis daycare child found alone on busy street

A three-year-old child left the Celso Ramos Municipal Early Childhood Education Center (NEIM) unaccompanied in downtown Florianópolis on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 10:40 a.m., and the child was subsequently found alone on a busy street near the facility.

There are conflicting accounts regarding how the child was located. A report from the Santa Catarina Military Police (PMSC) states that a staff member from the unit found the child and notified the guardians. However, the child's mother contested this version, stating she was alerted by a family friend who discovered the girl on the street.

The Florianópolis City Hall described the incident as ‘unacceptable’ and announced the opening of an administrative process to investigate the circumstances. A technical team has been dispatched to the unit to conduct an on-site inspection. The administration noted that the facility is equipped with monitors, security guards, and access protocols.
