Florianópolis hosts free film and art showcases

Florianópolis is hosting several free cultural events, including a socio-environmental film showcase and an art education session.

From August 10 to 13, the Planetadoc festival will present its ‘Mostra Vencedores’ at the Centro Integrado de Cultura (CIC). The showcase features award-winning documentaries and animations covering themes such as biodiversity, climate change, human rights, and sustainability. The program is designed for various age groups and includes participation from over 500 students in partnership with local education departments.

Additionally, the ‘Museus Virtuais’ project will hold a free session at Paradigma Cine Arte on August 15. Led by art educator Claudio Toscan, the session will explore the life and work of Henri Matisse and the Fauvism movement. The event offers a virtual tour of Matisse’s career, including his time in Nice and his connections to institutions like the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
