Florianópolis launches social urbanism project for Morro da Cruz

The Florianópolis City Hall, through the Secretariat of Planning, Housing, and Urban Development, has initiated the ‘Juntos pelo Maciço’ project. This regenerative social urbanism initiative aims to transform the quality of life across 21 communities within the Maciço do Morro da Cruz region.

The project focuses on integrating urban planning, social inclusion, and environmental preservation. It seeks to establish long-term guidelines for infrastructure, public services, mobility, and communal spaces while balancing land regularization in consolidated areas with the protection of remaining green zones.

Developed through a coalition of public and private entities, the initiative emphasizes community participation. Following an initial meeting with local leaders, the next stages will involve workshops to identify specific demands and challenges within each territory. Participating organizations include the LUA (Laboratory of Urbanism and Architecture), Insper, ICOM, Floripa Sustentável, and various local business associations.
