Florianópolis to host free children's cinema about Santa Catarina history

Free screenings of the children's animated series ‘Cineclube Passado da Hora – História de Santa Catarina’ will take place this Sunday in Florianópolis. The sessions are scheduled for 11:00 and 15:00 at the Passeio Sapiens auditorium in Cachoeira do Bom Jesus.

Produced by the Florianópolis-based studios Animaking and Ideafix, the series uses animation to teach children about the history and culture of Santa Catarina. The story follows a 12-year-old girl named Isadora and her dinosaur, Rex, as they explore historical themes including colonization, pirate invasions, the Hercílio Luz Bridge, and local traditions like ‘renda de bilro’ and ‘Boi de Mamão’. The series also highlights historical figures such as Antonieta de Barros and Franklin Cascaes.

Since its launch in September 2024, the series has garnered over 6.5 million views on YouTube. It is also utilized in state, municipal, and private schools through a 10-year agreement with the State Secretariat of Education. Tickets for the upcoming sessions must be reserved via Sympla.
