Florida AG demands social media companies stop sweepstakes casino ads

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has issued demands to several major social media and technology companies, including Google, Meta, Reddit, Snap, and TikTok, to cease advertising sweepstakes casino platforms to residents of Florida.

The Attorney General’s office alleges that these platforms are promoting illegal real-money gambling under the guise of “sweepstakes” terminology. Specifically, the state is targeting brands such as Stake, Chumba Casino, LuckyLand, and Global Poker. Florida officials contend that the dual-currency models used by these sites constitute unauthorized gambling operations.

The companies have been given until October 23 to confirm the removal of these advertisements and to provide written explanations regarding the measures they will implement to prevent such promotions from reaching Florida residents in the future.
