Florida allocates $14.4 billion for transportation infrastructure

Florida is significantly increasing its transportation investment, with $14.4 billion allocated to the Transportation Work Program for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. This funding, managed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), aims to address population growth, tourism, and freight needs. The budget includes nearly $4.9 billion for highway construction and maintenance, and $1.4 billion for resurfacing over 2,600 lane miles. The Lane Construction Corporation, a subsidiary of the Webuild Group, is currently executing strategic projects in the corridors linking Tampa, Orlando, and Daytona Beach.

On a federal level, the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $426 million to critical infrastructure projects across 12 states through the Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight & Highway Projects (INFRA) program. A notable portion of these federal funds includes $85 million designated for adding lanes along approximately 20 miles of Interstate 4 in Florida. These investments are part of the broader $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, intended to bolster U.S. supply chains and improve major highway corridors.
