Florida Atlantic University develops quantum model for heart disease prediction
Researchers at Florida Atlantic University have developed a novel quantum machine learning model capable of predicting heart disease with 90.26% accuracy. The study, published in the MDPI AI Journal, utilized a Quantum Support Vector Machine with angle encoding to analyze data from 918 patients.
The model demonstrated high predictive capabilities, achieving 92.16% sensitivity and 83.42% specificity, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.93. According to Professor Arslan Munir, the research highlights how quantum machine learning can serve as a powerful paradigm for healthcare analytics by modeling complex clinical data more effectively than conventional approaches.
