Florida Attorney General charges Canadian resident with illegal voting in multiple elections

Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that 66‑year‑old Giorgio Dominique Mucelli, a lawful permanent resident and Canadian citizen living in Melbourne, Florida, has been charged with voting in seven Florida general elections despite being ineligible. The elections span 2004, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2020, 2022 and 2024. Mucelli registered to vote in Brevard County in 2004, falsely affirming under oath that he was a U.S. citizen, and subsequently voted early in later contests using photo ID, with none of the ballots marked provisional.

He faces two third‑degree felony counts – Voting by a Non‑Citizen Elector and False Affidavit – carrying a potential sentence of up to ten years in the Florida Department of Corrections. The case resulted from an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Election Crime Unit and Statewide Prosecutors. In a post‑Miranda interview, Mucelli admitted to the illegal voting and to lying to election officials about his citizenship status.
