Florida Attorney General subpoenas Anthony Fauci over COVID-19 conduct

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has issued a subpoena to Dr. Anthony Fauci as part of a state-level investigation into his conduct during the COVID-19 pandemic. The probe is examining potential violations of Florida law, including allegations of self-dealing, fraud, deceptive trade practices, and public nuisance.

Uthmeier stated that investigators are seeking documents to determine if Fauci sought personal financial gain through book deals, awards, or connections with wealthy individuals while serving in his official capacity. The Attorney General noted that while criminal wrongdoing has not been established, the investigation aims to uncover whether Fauci's actions constitute criminal liability, regardless of any federal pardon.

The investigation follows a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing where Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination multiple times. Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville has supported these state-level efforts to ensure accountability regarding federal pandemic policies.
