Sinaloa Cartel networks dismantled in Florida and Tennessee

Federal and state authorities have dismantled two major drug trafficking operations linked to the Sinaloa Cartel in Florida and Tennessee.

In Florida, law enforcement disrupted a smuggling ring that moved cocaine from the Mexican border through El Paso, Texas, to the Tampa Bay area. The operation, which utilized commercial semi-trucks and inoperable tractors as facades, resulted in the arrest of ten individuals. Among those detained is Erick Manuel Gómez Tapia, alias ‘Canelo’, who faces a $30 million bond. Another key figure, Daniel Pinales, was identified as a primary distributor in Tampa and faces potential life imprisonment. Investigators estimate the network moved hundreds of kilograms of cocaine between December 2025 and July 2026.

In Tennessee, a year-long investigation led to federal charges against 24 individuals for distributing fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine. Authorities identified Humberto Morales and José Martín Pérez as high-ranking members who allegedly managed group activities from within Tennessee correctional facilities. This network, referred to as ‘La Oficina’, coordinated operations via the encrypted messaging app Signal. The investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 500 kilograms of methamphetamine, 20 kilograms of fentanyl, 60 kilograms of cocaine, and over $375,000 in cash.
