Florida authorities rescue dozens of Border Collies from hoarding case

Authorities in Palm City, Florida, arrested 62-year-old Paige O’Donnell following an animal hoarding investigation that resulted in the rescue of dozens of Border Collies. Deputies from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on Alligator Street, where they found the animals in deplorable conditions.

Sheriff John Budensiek reported that the home was in a state of extreme deterioration, with significant damage to the drywall and furniture. Rescuers were required to wear protective Tyvek gear due to the presence of feces and urine throughout the property. Officials noted that many of the dogs were matted and covered in waste, making them difficult to recognize.

O’Donnell, a former American Kennel Club breeder, faces multiple charges, including felony animal cruelty and improper confinement. Investigators believe the animals may have been trapped in the home for at least four years following complaints from neighbors.
