Trio accused of stealing heirlooms from cemeteries in nine states

Authorities in Florida are searching for a trio accused of a multi-state crime spree targeting cemeteries to steal family heirlooms and valuables. The suspects, identified as Drake Lee Milam, 33, his girlfriend Porsche Bancroft, 32, and Bancroft’s mother Angela Garrett, 52, are believed to have traveled across the eastern United States, including at least nine states.

Investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office report that the suspects broke into niches and mausoleums containing cremated remains to remove personal items such as jewelry and wedding rings. In Florida alone, detectives have identified at least 20 cases with an estimated theft value exceeding $35,000. The suspects, who are reportedly from the Indianapolis, Indiana, area, face extradition warrants to Florida for charges including grand theft and removing contents of a grave or tomb.

Law enforcement officials have urged families to check the resting places of their loved ones to ensure memorial items remain secure. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
