Florida back-to-school health fairs offer free screenings and supplies

In Alachua, the Legacy Park event combines a school‑supply giveaway by the Alachua Police Department with a health fair hosted by the University of Florida Health Cancer Institute and WellFlorida Council. Children receive free backpacks, pizza vouchers and families can access reduced‑cost mammograms, blood‑pressure checks, prostate cancer testing, free car seats and $100 Visa gift cards. The fair also provides CPR demos and fingerprinting.

Meanwhile, Florida Atlantic University and Northwest Community Health Alliance will hold a Back‑to‑School Community Health and Resource Fair in West Palm Beach on Aug. 8 at the U.B. Kinsey Center. The free event offers school physicals, blood‑pressure and dental screenings, immunizations by appointment, mammograms, mental‑health checks, food distribution, a rock‑climbing wall, haircuts and activities with local fire‑rescue and police K‑9 units.
