Florida Candidate Forums Spotlight House District 31 and Hillsborough School Board Races

Voters in Florida attended two public candidate forums ahead of upcoming elections. On July 16, a "Meet the Candidates" event was held at the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center in Merritt Island for Florida House District 31. The forum featured Democrat Daniel Lewis Cicirelle and Republican candidates Mindy Gibson, Robyn Hattaway, Marcus Herman and Matt Woodside, and was organized by the non‑partisan nonprofit Community Advocacy for Merritt Island (CAMI).

A separate discussions took place in Tampa at the C. Blythe Andrews Jr. Public Library, where candidates for Hillsborough County School Board District 2 addressed education issues. Daniela Simic and Chris Taylor spoke about testing policies and teacher retention, while third candidate Brittany Lyssy was absent. Topics also included student nutrition, obesity and book removals. The primary election for both races is scheduled for August 18.
