Florida coach Jon Sumrall wears black cowboy hat after Texas upset

Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall made headlines following a 27-24 upset victory over the No. 7 Texas Longhorns at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. Before the game, Texas student organizations, including the UT Silver Spurs and Texas Cowboys, presented Sumrall with a black cowboy hat, a gesture interpreted as casting him in the role of the antagonist.

Sumrall embraced the gesture, wearing the hat as he departed the stadium after the win. The victory ended a two-game losing streak for Florida, who entered the matchup as 12-point underdogs and were playing with a backup quarterback due to an injury to Aaron Philo.

In his postgame press conference, Sumrall maintained a blunt assessment of his team's performance, noting that while they improved, they still have significant work to do to overcome their recent struggles.
