Florida couple arrested in death of seven-week-old daughter

A Florida couple, Robert Lee Ingram Jr., 22, and Gracie Jai Tellez, 20, have been arrested in connection with the death of their seven-week-old daughter. The arrest occurred in Jacksonville following an investigation into an incident that took place in October in Hollywood, Broward County.

Investigators report that the infant was found unconscious in her home on October 14. While the parents initially told authorities the child had been fed and placed in her crib, medical examinations revealed severe injuries. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death was complications from blunt force traumatic brain injury, classifying the death as a homicide.

Specific injuries identified by medical specialists included skull fractures, brain hemorrhages, and retinal detachment, which investigators stated are consistent with violent shaking. Authorities allege the parents were playing the video game ‘Call of Duty’ while the infant lay unconscious. Both individuals face charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child and child neglect.
