Florida couple arrested in North Carolina after newborn disappearance

Leon Alejandro Jr., 21, and Samantha Feliz, 20, both residents of Hollywood, Florida, were taken into custody in Rockingham, North Carolina, on fugitive‑of‑justice warrants. Authorities allege the pair concealed a birth that occurred between Dec. 6, 2024, and Jan. 5, 2025, and later claimed the infant never existed, telling relatives the baby was “a prank.”

Investigators say family members saw the couple with the child during its first month, but the infant was not seen thereafter. A warrant obtained by local media describes a final photograph of the baby, identified only by the initials A.F., appearing “visibly ill and malnourished” with “no signs of life.” Searches with cadaver dogs, recovered baby clothing, a positive pregnancy test, and other evidence have not located the remains. The couple faces multiple felony charges in Florida and remain jailed pending extradition.
