Florida Democratic Senate candidate Angie Nixon faces scrutiny
Florida Democratic Senate candidate Angie Nixon is facing scrutiny regarding her financial disclosures and political identity. The National Legal and Policy Center has alleged that Nixon violated Senate rules by failing to disclose debts exceeding $10,000, specifically citing unpaid federal student loans and a $12,000 debt to the IRS. Nixon has publicly expressed opposition to repaying her student loans, stating on social media that she is ‘above’ paying them back.
In a separate development, Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Jolly expressed support for Nixon, stating her candidacy ‘injects a lot of enthusiasm’ for Democratic voters. Jolly also indicated he would welcome campaigning alongside former Vice President Kamala Harris. These remarks drew criticism from Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds’ campaign, which characterized Jolly as being beholden to the ‘socialist wing’ of the Democratic Party.
