Florida Gators defeat Stetson in preseason exhibition
The No. 1 ranked Florida Gators defeated Stetson 85-68 in an exhibition game at the O'Connell Center. Despite the victory, head coach Todd Golden expressed dissatisfaction with the team's performance, specifically citing poor communication and an insufficient contribution from the bench.
Urban Klavzar led the Gators with 24 points, including six three-pointers, while Denzel Aberdeen added 22 points. While the Gators' shooting improved compared to their previous exhibition loss against Baylor, Golden noted that the team struggled defensively against Stetson's offensive sets and failed to adequately prepare for the Hatters' specific style of play.
Florida enters the 2026-27 season as the consensus top-ranked team in the nation, following a national championship win in 2025. The roster features returning starters including Rueben Chinyelu, Thomas Haugh, Alex Condon, and Urban Klavzar, alongside the return of shooting guard Denzel Aberdeen.
