Florida GOP Primary Heats Up as Rep. Cory Mills Faces Ethics Probe and Stolen Valor Claims

In Florida’s 7th Congressional District, incumbent Rep. Cory Mills (R) is under a House Ethics Committee investigation that includes allegations of domestic assault, campaign‑finance violations and other misconduct. During a recent GOP primary debate, challengers accused Mills of “stolen valor” and suggested a Justice Department probe, which Mills denied.

State Republicans Anna Paulina Luna and Mike Haridopolos publicly endorsed former TV news anchor Ryan Elijah, giving the challenger a clear line against Mills ahead of the Aug. 18 primary. The race, once a routine incumbent defense, has shifted to focus on the scandals surrounding Mills and whether Republican voters will retain the seat amid the controversy.
