Florida Governor Ron DeSantis makes appointments and faces tax amendment scrutiny
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed Earl Glisson and David Clark to the Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Advisory Council. Clark, CEO of Allegiant Group and Divergent Solutions, previously held senior leadership roles within the DeSantis administration. Glisson serves as the apostle of Anchor Faith Church and is the president of Faith Christian University.
Separately, Florida law enforcement officials are expressing concern over Amendment 3, a property tax measure appearing on the November ballot. While the amendment aims to expand the state’s homestead exemption to provide homeowner savings, officials warn it could reduce revenue for essential services. Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods described the potential impact as a “hidden way of defunding the police.” In Sarasota County, officials project a loss of $134 million in property tax revenue over the first two years if the measure passes.
