Florida gubernatorial candidates Donalds and Jolly campaign in South Florida

Florida gubernatorial candidates Byron Donalds and David Jolly are intensifying their campaigns in South Florida as Election Day approaches. Republican candidate Byron Donalds, an ally of Donald Trump, campaigned in Miami’s Little Havana, emphasizing his opposition to communism and focusing on conservative priorities such as affordability, immigration, law and order, and property taxes.

Democratic candidate David Jolly met with religious leaders in Deerfield Beach, centering his platform on housing, healthcare, education, and opposition to data centers. Jolly characterized the race as a choice between his policy-driven approach and his opponent’s focus on social and political division.

The election has become increasingly contentious. Jacksonville legislator Angie Nixon has criticized Donalds, alleging he does not support Black people and citing past comments regarding the Jim Crow era. Meanwhile, Jolly has criticized Donalds regarding his past legal history and leniency toward young offenders.
