Byron Donalds and David Jolly intensify Florida gubernatorial race

The Florida gubernatorial race between Republican Byron Donalds and Democrat David Jolly is intensifying as both candidates ramp up campaign efforts. Donalds has pledged to reduce homeowners insurance premiums by 20% and has endorsed Amendment 3 to provide property tax relief. He has also criticized Jolly for declining to participate in televised debates.

In a recent campaign stop, Donalds announced a town hall at Florida A&M University. However, the event has faced scrutiny due to restrictions that limit attendance primarily to registered students and prohibit attendees from recording the proceedings. This follows a breakdown in the formal debate process between the two candidates.

Meanwhile, David Jolly is calling for increased financial support from the national Democratic Party to remain competitive. Jolly noted a significant funding gap, with Donalds having raised over $115 million compared to Jolly’s $15.8 million. Despite the disparity, election analysts have shifted the race to a “Toss up,” noting that Donalds' probability of winning has recently decreased from 68% to 60%.
