Florida Gulf Coast University wins ACHA DII National Championship

The Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) club hockey team secured the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) DII National Championship on March 17 at the Centene Community Ice Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The Eagles won the title after a 2-2 tie in regulation led to an overtime period, where forward Cole Bauman scored just 26 seconds into the extra frame.

This victory marked the program’s first championship since 2019. The team finished the season with a 23-4 record and a +115 goal differential. Senior forward Jake Court was named the tournament MVP after recording six goals and 13 points during the postseason. Head Coach Eric Mabie noted the team’s composure throughout the championship game.
