Florida high school football season begins with notable openers

The high school football season has officially commenced in Florida, featuring notable performances and championship defenses. In Palm Beach County, West Boca Raton High School and Cardinal Newman High School enter the season as defending champions of their respective FHSAA classifications.

Wellington High School opened its season with a 28-13 victory over South Fork. Head coach Pete Walker noted the importance of evaluating players during the exhibition game as the team prepares for its home opener against Park Vista.

• West Orange defeated Ohio's Archbishop Hoban 28-24 in a close interstate contest. • Chaminade-Madonna secured a 49-21 win over Monarch, highlighted by transfer quarterback Brady Quinn's performance of 350 yards and five touchdowns. • Columbus earned a dominant 45-7 victory against Southridge in a Miami rivalry game. • Dillard defeated Piper 44-21. • Seminole beat Colorado's Mountain Vista 26-17.
