Florida man arrested after allegedly challenging officer to fight in hospital

Ronald Jeffery Johnson, a 51-year-old man from Fort Lauderdale, was arrested following an incident at Broward Health Medical Center on August 29. According to arrest reports, Johnson was allegedly yelling at medical staff in the emergency department, causing a disturbance and fear among patients.

An off-duty police officer wearing a full uniform was notified of the situation. The officer reported that Johnson confronted him, yelling, “I want to fight you,” before moving toward the officer. A physical altercation ensued during which Johnson allegedly grabbed the officer and resisted attempts to be restrained. The officer required multiple stitches for a cut on his left hand sustained during the struggle.

Johnson was taken into custody and transported to the Broward Sheriff's Office Main Jail. He faces charges including aggravated battery on an officer, resisting an officer with violence, assault on an officer, and disorderly conduct. He was being held on an $8,500 bond.
