Florida man arrested after hospital escape and police chase

Jordan Eugene Brown, 35, was arrested in Miami-Dade County, Florida, following a carjacking and a high-speed police pursuit. The incident began when Brown, who had been brought to Palmetto Hospital under an involuntary mental health hold known as the Baker Act, escaped the medical facility.

Upon exiting the hospital, Brown allegedly approached a woman in the parking lot and forcibly took control of her vehicle. After colliding with another car while fleeing the premises, Brown led the Florida Highway Patrol on a chase in a black Nissan Sentra. Despite multiple attempts by officers to use the Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT maneuver), the suspect continued to evade authorities and other motorists.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of 17th Avenue and 79th Street, where a Florida Highway Patrol officer successfully forced the vehicle into a collision, allowing for Brown's arrest. The Hialeah Police Department is leading the formal investigation into charges of vehicle theft and fleeing the scene after an accident.
