Florida man charged with murder after shooting and running over girlfriend

Christopher Dodge Smith, 40, faces first-degree murder and child abuse charges following a fatal shooting and hit-and-run in Safety Harbor, Florida. According to a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office affidavit, Smith allegedly targeted his girlfriend, 30-year-old Jessica Antolini, at the Harbor Bar on October 13.

Witnesses reported that Smith acted strangely inside the establishment while searching for Antolini. After a confrontation in the parking lot, Smith allegedly shot Antolini in the head before fleeing the scene. As he sped away, he reportedly ran over Antolini’s body.

Smith’s five-year-old daughter and a pet dog were inside the vehicle during the incident. The child reportedly told investigators, “Daddy shot Jess.” Smith was later apprehended by deputies after refusing to stop for a traffic stop, which required officers to immobilize his vehicle. Antolini was pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital. Smith is currently being held without bond.
