Florida men arrested for alleged tool theft and resort fraud
Two separate criminal investigations in Florida have led to recent arrests involving theft and fraud.
In Gainesville, Jason Randell Dowling Sr., 39, was arrested following an investigation into the theft and pawning of retail merchandise. Detectives reported that Dowling allegedly stole more than $500 worth of tools from a Lowe’s and subsequently sold them to local pawn shops. An expanded review of his activity suggested he had sold approximately 55 new tools to various shops between June and September 2026. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Dowling leaving the store without paying for several items, including flashlights, task lights, and job-site radios, which were sold at a pawn shop shortly thereafter.
In Islamorada, Malachi Ethan Keasler, 26, was arrested for allegedly stealing more than $2,400 in goods and services from the Cheeca Lodge & Spa. Keasler faces charges of grand theft, scheme to defraud, and possession of another person’s identification. The investigation began after a guest discovered unauthorized charges for food, drinks, and apparel on her room bill. Keasler is the second suspect arrested in the case; co-defendant Emma Camille Wallace was booked on similar charges in December 2025.
