Florida Municipalities Set FY2027 Property Tax Caps

In Royal Palm Beach, the Village Council voted 3‑2 to raise the maximum property‑tax rate to 2.15 mills for fiscal year 2027, up from the long‑standing 1.92‑mill rate. The higher rate is intended to fund a $48.7 million operating budget—about 19 % lower than the previous year—while preserving reserves and supporting $20 million in planned capital projects over five years. Village Manager Ray Liggins warned that maintaining the current rate would create a multi‑year deficit and deplete reserves.
