Florida Panthers goalie Jacob Markstrom sidelined by practice injury

Florida Panthers goaltender Jacob Markstrom is expected to miss 10 to 14 days after being struck by a puck during a practice session, according to head coach Paul Maurice. The incident occurred at the Baptist Health IcePlex in Fort Lauderdale.

Markstrom, who is in his 17th NHL season, has started the season with a 3-1-1 record, a 2.21 goals-against average, and an .897 save percentage. This marks his second injury issue of the season, following an undisclosed injury that caused him to miss two games last week.

In his absence, the Panthers are expected to utilize Akira Schmid as the starter, while Cooper Black has been called up from the AHL's Charlotte Checkers to provide depth. Black, a 6'8" netminder, has posted a .919 save percentage in the AHL.
