Florida Panthers goaltender Jacob Markstrom avoids major injury

Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice has provided an optimistic update regarding goaltender Jacob Markstrom after his early exit during a game against the Buffalo Sabres. Markstrom was pulled after the first period, during which he stopped nine of 11 shots, after experiencing physical tightness.

Maurice stated that the team does not believe Markstrom has suffered a significant injury, describing the situation as “standard stuff.” While Markstrom was not on the bench following the first period, the coaching staff remains hopeful he could be available for the team’s upcoming game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Akira Schmid took over goaltending duties in relief, appearing in the second period and making 18 saves on 21 shots. The Panthers ultimately lost the contest 5-3.
