Florida woman arrested for leaving four children home alone during cruise

Nathalie Belizaire, a 29-year-old resident of North Miami Beach, was arrested after allegedly leaving her four minor children home alone for three days while she went on a cruise to the Bahamas. The children, who include a two-month-old infant and a two-year-old, were discovered by authorities hiding in a bathroom after the father of the infant became suspicious following a WhatsApp post showing a cruise ticket purchase.

Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue forced entry into the residence on September 26 and found the children without adult supervision. While Belizaire had reportedly told the father she would leave the children with their great-grandmother, investigators found the relative had not received them. Belizaire was subsequently arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection as she disembarked the Carnival Conquest at PortMiami on September 28.

Belizaire faces four felony counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. During a court appearance, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer expressed disbelief at the situation, questioning how a newborn could be left alone. A judge has set her bond at $10,000 and issued a stay-away order, prohibiting her from contacting the children.
