Florida police shoot armed woman at Port Orange station

A 71-year-old woman, identified as Linda Jean Croteau, died following a confrontation with police at the Port Orange Police Department in Florida. The incident occurred on the morning of September 3.

Security footage shows Croteau entering the station armed and firing a shot inside the facility. She then exited through the main entrance into the parking lot, where she was intercepted by officers. Despite orders to drop her weapon, Croteau continued to approach the agents, prompting them to open fire.

Croteau was wounded in the exchange and transported to a nearby hospital, where she passed away on September 4. Authorities confirmed that no officers or civilians inside the station were injured. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the events that took place while the woman was armed inside the station. Officers and witnesses involved in the incident have been provided with psychological assistance.
