Florida primary election features universal races in Lee County

Florida voters are preparing for the August 18 primary election, with significant participation reported in early voting. More than 1 million residents have already cast ballots via mail or early voting sites across the state.

In Lee County, the primary includes two universal races open to all registered voters regardless of party affiliation. These include a race for the Lee County Board of County Commissioners, District 5, featuring incumbent Trish Petrosky and challenger Amanda Cochran. The candidates have focused on the pace of county growth. Additionally, the District 6 School Board race features incumbent Jada Langford Fleming against challenger India Palencia, with fiscal management and spending oversight serving as key issues.
