Florida Primary Races in Lee County School Board District 1 and Palm Beach County Commission District 6

Incumbent Sam Fisher, a lawyer, is seeking re‑election to the Lee County School Board District 1 seat, facing corporate executive Jenn McDaigle. The non‑partisan race, limited to voters in District 1—which includes Cape Coral, Pine Island, Sanibel, Captiva and Boca Grande—will appear on the Aug. 18 primary ballot. Fisher emphasizes continued policy‑making and budgeting, while McDaigle stresses transparency, accountability and collaboration with Superintendent Dr. Denise Carlin.

In Palm Beach County, the District 6 seat on the County Commission is contested by incumbent Sara Baxter, who also serves as county mayor, and Elizabeth Accomando, president of the Indian Trail Improvement District. Early voting has begun and mail‑in voting is underway ahead of the Aug. 18 primary. Accomando, a former insurance adjuster and animal‑rescue founder, promises to serve the western communities and the Glades, while Baxter seeks to retain her leadership role.
