Florida prosecutors drop domestic battery charges against Marcellus Wiley

Florida prosecutors have decided not to pursue domestic battery charges against former NFL player Marcellus Wiley following an incident in July. According to court documents, the decision was made because the “testimonial evidence received is not corroborated by any physical or other evidence and is therefore insufficient to obtain a conviction.”

The case originated during the July 4 holiday weekend in Orlando, where Annemarie Wiley, Marcellus Wiley’s estranged wife, reported an alleged domestic battery at a hotel. The arrest affidavit stated that Annemarie reported Wiley had threatened her life and had previously poked her in the cheek. Wiley has consistently denied the allegations, stating there was no physical altercation.

The criminal matter follows a broader legal dispute between the couple, as Annemarie Wiley filed for divorce in Los Angeles County and sought a domestic violence restraining order, citing various forms of abuse throughout their 12-year marriage.
